Mount Kilimanjaro Tours

Mount Kilimanjaro, located on the border between Tanzania and Kenya, is the tallest mountain in Africa. This volcanic mountain is a magnificent sight, with its slopes covered with dense forest, and snow at its summit, even though the mountain is near the Equator. Mount Kilimanjaro is not difficult to climb, if you're in good health and many people scale its peak every year. Many tourists welcomed the new millennium by viewing the sunrise from the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro on Jan 1st 2000. You can take an exciting trek up Mount Kilimanjaro on Mount Kilimanjaro tours with Tanzania Tours Hub.

Mount Kilimanjaro is also known as Kilima Njaro wich means Shining Mountain in Swahili. The Masai people call it Oldoinyo Oibor (white mountain), a reference to its snowcapped peak.
Mount Kilimanjaro was first scaled by a German climber Dr Hans Meyer on October 5, 1889.

Kilimanjaro National Park:
Mount Kilimanjaro is a stratovolcano formed as a result of the shifting on the Earth's crust, when the African Rift Valley was formed, as well as by volcanic activity. It is one of the tallest freestanding mountains in the world. The region around Mount Kilimanjaro is now a forest reserve. Kilimanjaro National Park covers the area above 2,700m (8,850) feet on the mountain, as well as six corridors through the Kilimanjaro Reserve Forest. You can see the flora and fauna of Kilimanjaro National Park on Mount Kilimanjaro Tours, with Tanzania Tours Hub.

Mt Kilimanjaro rises to a height of 5,895 m (19,335.6 ft.). It has three volcanic cones - Kibo, Shira and Mawenzi. Kibo is the youngest and highest cone, which has a crater that is over 2 km wide. Sulphur fumes and steam are still emitted from the cracks in the Kibo crater at Mt Kilimanjaro. The older volcanic cones, Shira and Mawenzi, have been eroded with time, whereas Kibo still retains its cone shape, as you can discover on Mount Kilimanjaro Tours.
